a very vague update

I want to blog, but I am at a loss for what to say at this time.  There are things taking place right now in my life that are simply not appropriate to share on the Internet.  I guess one thing I can say is that God is, (once again), using a trial to bring me closer to Him.  Actually, it is more of a category five hurricane.

For now, out of respect for my family and everyone involved, I am going to leave it at that.  I know it's vague, but you will just have to join me in prayer for my family and the private issue that I am not able to share through this public outlet.  When you pray, all that is important is that God knows the circumstances and He will hear your prayers.

So, thank you in advance for your support!

Moving along....

  • JP began 1st grade!  I cannot believe what a big boy he is.  So far, he is doing wonderfully well!  I really like his teacher too.  Boy, have we been blessed in this area.  I'll keep you updated on his progress.
  • Laurie (my sister) is doing well with her sweet Preston.  However, unfortunately she is going to have to have more surgery.  :(   Keep her in your prayers.  She cannot seem to catch a break physically.
  • Preston is a CRAZY MADMAN!!!  We love him to death.  He has a spunky, hilarious personality.  Laurie will have her hands full in the near future!! LOL
Well, that's all for now.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I promise to post again soon...

I am not sure what's going on with BLOGGER tonight, but I just wrote an entire post with all the pictures from his little party tonight and they are GONE.  UGH!!!  I hate it when that happens...

Anyway, I have a whole post about Chuck E Cheese that I want to write.  However, I am too tired now to re-type it!!  We had a good time with friends/family.  Tomorrow around lunch we are heading out to the lake with friends.  I will post pictures of our weekend and Chuck E Cheese on Sunday or Monday!

dread

I was hit by a harsh reality today.  There is nothing I can do to change that fact that I have to go back to work in less than two weeks.  Where did the summer go?  Every year the summer FLIES by.  And every summer I am surprised when the time comes for me to go back to work.  I go back next Thursday, so the ocean wave of depression will probably wash over me on Monday.

But I am NOT strapping on my life vest just yet.  We still have some celebratin' to do!  My baby turns SIX YEARS OLD this Wednesday!  Talk about time flying!  It seems like just yesterday I was sitting on my porch swing bawling my eyes out waiting on our adoption approval from the Guatemalan Embassy.  Wow.  Now, although you may find me on the porch bawling my eyes out, it is for an entirely different reason.  I've pulled out my hair, because  HE NEVER STOPS TALKING!!!  LOL

Seriously, tune in Wednesday for a birthday post for my baby boy!  I love him so much.

He truly has a heart of gold.

my thoughts on the chick fil a controversy

I am not sure what to write.  My mind has been overflowing with thoughts on this particular subject.  And putting those thoughts down in one post seems almost impossible.

But, I'll try.

I love Chick Fil A.  I love their sandwiches, their indoor playground, their cookies, and their sausage and egg biscuits.  Most of all, I LOVE their sweet tea!  There is not much I do not like about the restaurant.  So, if you were under the impression that I was going to "bash" them, you are wrong.  Very wrong.  In fact, like many others, I respect the CEO and founder for his beliefs and his willingness to share his faith in a public fashion.  However, if you ask me if I sat in line for a meal in support of their appreciation day, my answer would be a resounding NO!  I will even take it a step further and say that the display of "support" made me sick.  Heartbroken.

Bottom line?  We, as Christians, are supposed to point people TOWARDS Jesus.  Not away from Him.  It's wonderful that so many out there support the founder of Chick Fil A, but I hate to tell you that the only message that was spread throughout the homosexual community yesterday was HATE!  Do you think Jesus was truly happy about that?

Those of you who know me, know that I LOVE watching Dr. Phil.  There is a phrase that he uses repeatedly when talking to his guests.  He says, "perception is reality."  I know a LOT of people who rushed to the drive thru line yesterday.  And I know that they do not HATE gay and lesbians.  They actually meant well.  But, CLEARLY, the message sent out was not received by the opposing community as a message of love.  And if that was their perception of the whole "appreciation day", then unfortunately, it was a reality.

And I cannot support that.

I happen to believe in the traditional marriage union.  I am not ashamed of that.  And when asked my belief, I have no problem sharing.  But I also have to believe that there are FAR more productive and loving ways for me to share my faith than sitting in a fast food line for two hours just to order a chicken sandwich.  In other words, at the end of the day, what was accomplished for the Kingdom?

I would have to say nothing.  Absolutely nothing.
