UPDATE ON SCOTT

Today was the best Scott has felt since we've been home from Guatemala. It was really nice to see him feeling a little better.

Our ID doctor talked with our pathologist today. He DEFINITELY does not have Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This is good news. We are very happy about that! We are hopefully finding out sometime tomorrow if they are going to diagnose him with Hodgkin's Disease. He is showing a lot of the symptoms. At this point, we really just want to know SOMETHING. At least then, we can begin treating whatever it is.

There is a CHANCE that he will get to come home tomorrow. We are not getting our hopes up, but it would be nice. If everything comes back fine, then we will come home and the Infectious team will follow him on an outpatient basis. If he is diagnosed with Hodgkin's, we will be referred to an Oncologist.

That's all for now. JP got his 1 year old shots today----YUK! He's doing fine. In fact, he's in there sleeping....what am I doing still awake????? GOOD NIGHT!!!

Today was a good day for Scott. Remember him in your prayers tomorrow. He is having his other surgery at 3:00 (hospital time) so, who knows when!

Tomorrow's my little man's 1st birthday! We are going to the hospital tomorrow morning before Scott's procedure to eat a cupcake together and sing Happy Birthday!

Jp's been such a joy at the hospital---he truly is the happiest baby I've ever been around. Hope you enjoyed the pics!

Update

I will post pictures of the baby tonight when JP goes to bed. He loved seeing his daddy this morning. He no longer calls him "Da Da," he is saying "daddy" now! It does Scott's heart good. Scott did not want me to take pictures of him right now. He is not really at his best. BUT I have some of JP in the room playing. And, of course, he's model material!! hehe

The colon surgeon who built Scott's J Pouch (when he had his colon removed) came in today. He is going to put him to sleep Wednesday afternoon to "explore" his pouch and see what's going on in there. He may or may not have to cut on him. We are praying that he will not. Scott's already very sore from his neck surgery. ANYWAY, we are STILL waiting on the neck results--when the surgeon gets those, he will decide what he wants to do about the mass behind his pouch.

They have ruled out any kind of infectious disease. They are telling us that we are looking at PROBABLY either lymphoma OR inflammation/infection. Obviously we are praying for the latter! But either way, they are both treatable. God will do His part in taking care of his body. We are just trying to remain positive. I am currently thanking God that He allowed this to happen AFTER we had JP home and happy. He is great medicine for both of us right now.

So, this is not the way I had planned to spend my maternity leave, but we are doing okay!

I will do my best to post the pics tonight and keep everyone updated as much as possible.

MONDAY......(I think!)

I am going to take JP to the hospital to hang out with his daddy this afternoon. I will take pictures and post them.

Thank you all for your prayers and support of us during this time! Nothing new is taking place. The colon doctors are just waiting on the biopsy to come back from his neck before they make any decisions to do anything.

We perfected the "waiting" game during the adoption process. We're hangin' in there!

I just wanted to share some pics with you. It may be a while before I blog again. They are putting Scott in the hospital tomorrow. No one seems to know what's going on. He still has the fever/chills/sweats. We will be under the care of an Infectious Disease doctor for the most part. They will start him on some different antibiotics and monitor his fever activity. The are going to do lots of blood tests. After we go through that, the ENT wants to surgically remove the mass in his neck and biopsy it again. SO, after all of this, HOPEFULLY they will find out what's going on!

I am not sure how long we'll be there. Just continue to pray for us. JP will be fine, I'm sure, but mommy and daddy are NOT HAPPY about being away from him for any amount of time. I will try and update if and when I can. I may have to get Terry to "hijack" the blog again for me!!
