anyone got directions to the crazy farm?

I only have a minute to write. Basically, hell has taken place since my last post. We'll begin with Laurie...

She was in the ER Sunday night and in the hospital until yesterday with ANOTHER infection and MORE surgery. So, we are back at square one with the wound. Please continue to pray that her wound heals properly. (Preston is still doing wonderfully!)

On to Scott...

Since his surgery in September of '09, he has had problems with his right knee. Long story short, he woke up yesterday and could not walk. So, this morning he had surgery, thinking that he had a fracture of some kind. Turns out, they cleaned out infection, biopsied a spot and sent a culture of some pretty green fluid. The doctor put him on an antibiotic and will call me this weekend with the results. OUR PRAYER IS THAT HIS MRSA HAS NOT SETTLED IN HIS KNEE. This would not be good!

Thank you for praying for Laurie and Scott. Can you say, C.R.A.Z.Y?!!!

if the rapture took place, i'm still here...uh oh!

I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I promise! Even though the Rapture was supposed to take place at 6:00pm tonight and didn't! I was at Carolina Ale House with my mom and we were waiting for the trumpet sound! :)

I will post pictures soon of the boys. Both are doing well... JP and I are counting down the days until summer! We are very excited! Preston gets cuter and more edible by the day. He is smiling now and has laughed out loud one time. Laurie is getting around a little better. The nurse said that she will probably not have the wound vac much longer. That will be an answer to prayer! Her wound will not be closed but, lucky for her, there is a wound specialist in her family (me) who can pack her wound for her each day!!! Woohoo!! Needless to say, over the past several months, our sisterly relationship has soared to a whole new level! I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Well, keep an eye out for updated pics! Love you guys!

Dear Mom,

There are NO WORDS to express how much I love and appreciate you. Seriously. We often joke about what a total train wreck we are, but the truth is, there is no other ride I would rather be on! Your life is a true testimony to me. Not only are you my mother, you are my best friend. As I travel through the rest of my earthly life, I can only pray that I handle my trials and triumphs the way you have. You are the STRONGEST person I know. In honor of this Mother's Day, I thought I would list a few of the characteristics that make me love you...

  1. I love that you always want your grown children to sit on your lap and hold hands with you.

  2. I love how you come home from work every afternoon & dad has to call me to see if I've heard from you b/c you are sitting in your car, in the driveway, with the sun roof open listening to piano music- because you need your Vitamin D!

  3. I love that you always act like you want to talk to me on the phone 1 MILLION times a day, even though you probably have 1 Million other things to do.

  4. I love you because you wear your "I (heart) Secretaries" socks and your "Camp Wheretheheckarewe" shirt even though we all make fun of you.

  5. I love how a section of your hair is ALWAYS tangled in the back b/c you've twisted it all day at work.

  6. I love how you divorce dad several times a week, but still come home to him at the end of the day.

  7. I love how you love JP & now Preston. (the most!)

  8. I love how we usually spend every Saturday morning on the phone talking about what we are going to do for the day, only to hang up THREE HOURS later because the men are home from playing golf and we have to make them lunch!

  9. I love how you love God and have taught me to love Him and His precious Son.

  10. Last but not least, I love you because of how you have handled the adversity God has allowed you to face in your life. I know it has not been pretty, but you are a BEAUTIFUL person because of it.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, Nanny! I HEART you!

thoughts & updates

This is what my brain feels like right now. I will begin the post by giving you a family update:

SCOTT: Frustrated that he did not win a golf tournament this weekend, but did finish at the top! I'm very proud of him.

JP: Wild and crazy as ever! He's doing great and keeping us on our toes, as always!! He is very sweet and protective of our little Preston.

ME: I am counting down the days until summer!

LAURIE: She is doing GREAT! She is trying to move around more. Her wound is healing beautifully. She goes back to the doctor today, so we are expecting more good news! Thanks to all for your prayers and support!

PRESTON: Perfect!

MOM & DAD: T.I.R.E.D

Through all of this, we are reminded EVERY DAY of how blessed we are as a family. Thank You, God!

Now, for the random thoughts going through my brain:

1) We are in the beginning stages of planning a Disney World trip for JP! He talks about it all the time! We are thinking of going sometime in October, maybe. I will update more as our plans come together.

2) Scott and I have also begun to pray about taking JP back to Guatemala next summer. So far, this is just a thought. Several things have to come together before this can happen. We feel like JP is the perfect age. Next summer he will be turning SIX (wow!). He has a very mature understanding of adoption and asks about the "Eagle's Nest" often. I actually think it will mean something to him to go there and see his "story" come to life. It excites me to think about it. We are not sure when God will choose to expand our family, so we want to do these two things before we have another child.

I guess that is about all. I hope everyone has had a great weekend. JP and I went to church yesterday after missing the past three weeks. It was so nice! I LOVE MY CHURCH!

Have a GREAT day and I will be posting a Mother's Day post soon! Love you guys...
