monday update

Scott is still in the hospital. We are hoping to come home MAYBE sometime this week. He will leave the hospital with Home Health and IV antibiotics for about a month. His spirits are up as long as his pain is under control. He has a Wound Vac this time, so hopefully that will cut the healing time in half. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

When the surgeon (who we LOVE) operated, he found some of his J Pouch still in him. They think that, that was the source of most of Scott's problems with infection/abscesses etc. The surgeon pretty much cut EVERYTHING he could out without damaging his muscle or nerves. Because of the size of the wound, he has a long road ahead of him, but we are praying that this will be the end of his problems and he can finally enjoy life without Crohn's/Jpouch and everything that goes along with that. His ostomy continues to do well..PRAISE GOD!! He wishes that he had of done that ten years ago. I guess hind-sight's twenty twenty!

Thanks to everyone who has called/emailed/visited etc. It means a lot. I will update again when I have the chance.

here we go again.....

I thought I would update everyone on Scott and his Mamaw. Here we go....

Mamaw is out of CCU and back on the rehabilitation floor of St. Francis. She is doing okay for now. They are probably going to put her pacemaker back in a week from now. So, we'll have another up date then.

Scott is in the hospital again. We came to St. Francis this time for reasons that I won't go into right now.... ;)

Anyway. He is under the care of Infectious Disease, General Surgery and Wound Care. They have done CT Scans and MRI's of his pelvic area. The ID docs want to make sure that MRSA is what's causing the problems, and not something else. They did find a spot on the CT scan, but we haven't heard back from it.

He is going into pre-op for surgery in a few minutes. The Surgeon says that he is not comfortable if there is infection in his pelvic area.

So..I can update as I am able. I am on his mother's laptop right now. Thanks to everyone for your prayers!

just kidding

Hey! Remember in the last post when I said Scott was doing pretty well???? Well, turns out HE'S NOT!!!!!

Okay, I am not going to be sarcastic the whole time. It is just honestly how I feel right now. I know that there are way too many people to count who are in much worse positions than we are in right now, but I SERIOUSLY WANT TO COMPLAIN AND WHINE...So, if anyone is not okay with that, please stop reading now!!!!

Several more "spots" appeared yesterday on Scott's..well, you know! Anyway, they became red and irritated really fast, so JUST LIKE THREE WEEKS AGO, we called the surgeon/doctor and headed to the Emergency Room. He was put on an antibiotic again and we are home. After three doses, it's worse. Turns out, the doctor (who shall remain nameless) who performed his surgery the other week ran a culture on some tissue. On March 1st those cultures came back with two different infections. The largest/most aggressive infection is MRSA. The other one is a long name that I will not attempt to spell. It is a bacteria-based infection that attacks your intestinal tract. Now, for those of you who may not know, SCOTT ONLY HAS A SMALL PORTION OF HIS SMALL INTESTINES as it is!!! He cannot afford to have an infection there!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you ready for the "kicker?" NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL US AND TELL US ABOUT EITHER INFECTION!!!!! Yes, you heard me correctly!!! He has been HIGHLY contagious for three weeks now and we had no idea. I am not going to say any more about that part, because it literally makes me sick to think about it.

Here's what's going to happen: The doctor referred us to Infectious Disease. He will be under their care for however long. I will just ask you guys to pray. Scott is BEYOND frustrated and in pain right now. I, on the other hand, just want to scream and cry and go on a very long vacation somewhere. Again, we just need your prayers. And don't take this the wrong way... please don't send me verses from the Bible on things happening for a reason etc. I know those verses. I know that my trials will make me stronger and Scott and I will be stronger when this is all said and done. HOWEVER, this does not change the fact that Scott finally had "the surgery" that was suppose to "fix" his original problems and that was SIX MONTHS AGO! And his is MUCH MUCH worse off than he was before.

I am going to go now. Please keep in mind that this is like a journal for me. I just needed to write these things down and blow off steam. Thank you for listening........

I just wanted to write briefly and ask for your prayers for Scott's grandmother. She has been in the hospital for a long time with an infection caused by MRSA in her pacemaker. She is currently in CCU. Please ask for healing for Mamaw, and peace and comfort for the family!

We have been spending time at the hospital and catching up on sleep when we are home. I have not had much time to be on the computer.

UPDATE ON SCOTT: He is doing pretty well right now. He was sent to his gastroenterologist Monday. Not much came from that appointment. There is a good chance he still has Crohn's disease, but the doctor said that as long as it's not flaring up there is no reason to treat it. Scott was definitely okay with that!! He goes back to the wound doctor next week to see when and if he will need more surgery on his rectal wound. I will be sure and keep you updated.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Mamaw!!

misc pics from the week & the picture that won me the "mother of the year" award

Well, we are trying to heal and catch up on some much needed rest around our house. I am still battling a bad cold, but other than that, we are doing okay now. I want to thank everyone for your prayers/calls etc while Scott has been recovering AGAIN! I love you all. Below are just some miscellaneous pictures from the week.

Scott's birthday was Monday. When I got home from work, JP and I baked him a cake. The cake! JP "helped" me write....there was only room for "Happy Daddy!"
JP, Sandy and Daddy hanging out on the bed and loving on each other....I love these boys!

Me and my baby!

I realized that I will be judged for the following picture. It is the picture that will definitely win me the "Mom of the Year" award! I would like to preface it by saying that we read devotions with JP every day and pray with him throughout the day as well. I am doing my best to teach him the importance of a relationship with Jesus. Even at his young age. He is so sweet when he talks about God. NOW, having said that..... I keep a basket of magazines (my magazines) beside the toilet. When I walked into the bathroom to check on him the other night, this is what I found........

.....surely this has earned me another crown?!!?!!! ( We won't even talk about the other day when he ran into the living room and asked us to turn on FRIENDS!!) LOL
