lazy sunday

How do you spell lazy? Six episodes of FRIENDS and a Lifetime movie! Scott, JP and I stayed home from church today to get some much needed rest. JP played in his room and watched Hermie, Doodlebops and Toy Story. It's been a wonderful day!! ( P.S. I'm still in my bathrobe!)

divine intervention

I blame EVERYTHING on my allergies. I have been coughing a dry IRRITATING (for me and those around me) cough for probably four or five months. It's my allergies. I take a Zyrtec every morning and Benedryl almost every night before bed. I still wake up itching/sneezing/coughing etc. It's my allergies. For the past two weeks at night I wake up feeling like I can't breathe. I feel like someone is sitting on my chest. It's my allergies, right?!

Well, Friday morning when Scott woke me up AGAIN in the recliner, he said that I needed to see a doctor. WHATEVER! It's my allergies, sweetie! :) Well, at school I asked my girls about it and they said that maybe in the next few days I should try to see my doctor. A couple of our kids have had walking pneumonia.

I decided I would call....I HATE going to the doctor! So, I called Friday and my doctor was booked up. I told the lady that I would call back sometime next week. Then, something inside me felt like I needed to go. I went ahead and made an appointment with another doctor. I wasn't in his office for 3 minutes. After listening to my chest/back, he immediately diagnosed me with Asthma. WHAT??!!! He said that my lungs are very inflamed and constricted. He gave me a steroid shot right then along with a breathing treatment. He sent me home with an inhaler and two other forms of steroids to take. Again, I say WHAT??!!!!

I was very caught off guard. According to him, I should be thankful that I came in when I did. I say all of this to say this.....PRAISE GOD FOR SOMETIMES MAKING OUR DECISIONS FOR US WHEN WE THINK WE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!!!! He completely stepped in and took care of me. I didn't even know I needed it! How reassuring for us as Christians! If you are a child of the King, listen to that "little voice" inside...often times, it's the voice of the Holy Spirit.

THANK YOU GOD!

(Now that I am pumped up on so many steroids, I might just try out for a major league baseball team! )

" Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who are you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
Matthew 6:25-27

I am just a TAD bit tired of all the talk about the recession! I mean, yeah, times are different now, but SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!! I am NO FINANCIAL EXPERT (wink, wink, mom/dad), but I know that God takes care of His people!

I just wanted to remind myself and all of you of Jesus' words in Matthew.....

Have a great night!

rain, rain, go away.....

disappointed

I must say that today I was disappointed in a community of Christians. I will refrain from mentioning the name of the ministry, but here's what happened.....

A lady I work with has a sister in law who is going through a difficult time in her marriage. She has pleaded with her husband for a year to join her in marriage counseling. He has refused, until now. Excited and encouraged, she surfed the Internet for "Christian" counselors. She found a very popular site that offered help. She called them only to be in tears after she hung up the phone. They told her that they would be happy to help her "as long as divorce was NOT an option." She told them that divorce would be the LAST option, but she couldn't make any promises. They had a lot to work through. They then told her that they could not help her!!!

NOW.... I am not a divorce advocate or anything, but SO MUCH is wrong with this! First of all, a couple would not seek counseling if the marriage was not in danger. Divorce is rarely a first choice. And aren't those the couples that you should WANT to counsel the most?? I seriously cannot picture Christ closing the door on a couple seeking help.

Again, I will not give the name of the ministry, because it's a HUGE one and one that I have followed for years. I may just have to write a letter!

I really think that the response she was given was a very "Pharisee" response. It made me think, you can dress up and play the part of the Christian, and completely miss out on a God opportunity because your views are clouded by your rules. I can't help but be reminded of how IMPERFECT the disciples actually were.

And to think, they were the closest thing to Christ. Hmmm!
