Randomness

First of all, I am very mad that my picture icon on my blogger page is not working. If anyone knows how I can fix these PLEASE let me know. When I go to "new post" and click the icon, nothing happens. I am very unhappy about it!!

Second of all, JP gave us a heart attack last night. Scott was out on the screened in porch putting golf balls. I was in the kitchen, but left to go to the bathroom. JP was running back and forth between his bedroom and the porch. He was watching the CARS movie in his room. We do this ALL THE TIME! Anyway, Scott thought that I was still in the kitchen. When he looked up from the porch he saw JP over on the neighbors porch!!!!! JP had opened the kitchen door, walked down our back steps across the driveway and up the neighbor's CONCRETE steps in the rain!!! There was a cat on her porch and he decided he wanted to see it! Can you imagine???!!!! My first thought was I am thankful he went to the neighbor's porch and not Nanny and Papa's house, which is across the street! I never dreamed he could open the door! From now on we are dead-bolting the door! We'll be safe until he figures out how to master that!!! Mothers, beware of your two year old!!

A teacher I work with left work today after receiving a phone call that her two year old little boy had passed away. I'm not going to use this blog to share details that I, myself, am not sure of. The point is, she lost her son. Unexpectedly. Out of nowhere. Without warning. Her entire life changed in a literal instance. Her life is broken. Her heart is broken.

I don't even know what to say. I RUSHED out of the building today to pick up JP. I could not get to him fast enough. I wanted to hold him, kiss him, love on him. All I have been able to think about this afternoon is how long God will allow my life to be this good. At some point we will all face tragedy and hardships. Today has reminded me how important it is for me to love what's in front of me and not take it for granted. I will tell JP I love him tonight and, Lord willing, in the morning. I will hug and kiss my husband and tell him how much he means to me. I will also do the very best that I can to tell God DAILY how precious He is to me and how honored I am to hold the position here on earth as wife, mother, daughter and friend. Because tomorrow it could change for me too.

My friends and I were talking towards the end of the day. We were saying that we hoped she and her husband had faith. Our principal met with the staff. We held hands and prayed together. He is a pastor part-time and was ministering to this mother and her family this afternoon. Between sobs, she told him that she doesn't blame God for wanting her son back with him because he was a wonderful boy.

Wow!

Ladies Night

Last night some friends and I headed to Kathi's cabin for a night away! It was great! The only thing that surprised me was the fact that I went to bed at THREE O'CLOCK this morning!!!!! You read that correctly! I don't know how in the world it happened...I am a real early bird at night. We were singing Karaoke and around 10:30 I was pooped. The next thing I know we begin playing a game and the next time I look at the clock, it's 1:00 am. By this time, I have bypassed tired and caught my second wind! Once I went to sleep, I slept like a rock!

All I could think about what how I was so excited about getting away for a night of sleep while I could.....that didn't happen! :) Thanks, girls for making it a fun-filled night!!

Pictures to come!

He didn't understand the horse at first. He loved it once he figured out that he wasn't going to fall off!

Serving God in the Basement

JP and I went to church with my mom and dad today and the preacher delivered an awesome message. I thought I would share....

In 2 Chronicles David, after being appointed King, was calling people for a "royal appointment" to issue men their duties...(most of this is going to be in my own words.) David went down the line of men. When he came to Joash, he told him that his duty was to be in the cellar keeping watch over the olive oil. The pastor pointed out that basically this BUSTED Joash's bubble! All of David's most glorious positions had been filled and all he needed Joash to do was hang out in the cellar and "watch the oil!" You may see where I am going with this...

How do we feel when all of the "spotlight" jobs are taken? Whether it be in the church or in our secular jobs. There are only so many up front jobs available in life. How do we react when we are looked over for them? God calls us to serve. We may not ever be recognized for our service. Joash's name is not one you would have found listed in the church bulletin. Mine may not be either, but the most important thing for us to remember is that although other people may not take notice or recognize us for what we do, GOD DOES! And He is the ONLY one who counts! The "oil" that David assigned Joash to watch over, was symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The kingdom could not run without the oil. So, what seemed to be the lowliest job was actually the most important. What did all of this say to me? Basically, God has called me to serve Him. I don't care if I serve on a praise team, in the choir, on staff, or "just" in the nursery changing diapers! Service is service no matter the capacity and as long as we do it to glorify the name of God, He promises to honor it!

GOTCHA!

I am supposed to be getting ready to go out w/ my mom and my aunt. Instead I have been sitting here in front of the computer (surprise, surprise!) crying while watching a family's "gotcha" video. For those of you who may not know what a gotcha video is, it's when the adoptive family pick up their child for the 1st time to bring them home. Anyway, it reminded me of when I got JP and I have been sobbing! A good sob! There is no other feeling in the world like when someone hands you your child for the 1st time! Whether it's in a delivery room, or the Marriott in Guatemala City.....so surreal! I love you, JP! AND most of all, I love you, God for allowing me to experience this!

FYI...Amy had her 2nd doctor's appt. today. MacKenzie was able to hear her little sister/brother's heartbeat! Everything is going well so far. Continue to pray for our new little one that's on the way!!

Happy Birthday to me!!

My birthday is next week and I am SUPER excited about this necklace I have ordered. These are Mayan symbols in the middle of the circle. Around the edge it says, "Iria hasta los extremos de la Tierra por ti" which means, "I would go to the ends of the earth for you!" I am having it engraved on the back, "Joseph Pablo 6/19/07"....that's the actual date that he was brought to me from the orphanage!

What happens when you turn your back on the 2 year old!

I do not know what came over us, but Scott and I thought we could sit on the couch BESIDE each other and watch a few episodes of Friends (shut up, Terry!) Anyway... JP had been quiet for a while, but we didn't think too much of it. He plays really well in his room now. It was when the dog seemed to disappear that we began to worry. Below is what we found. He decided to get into the cabinet and "feed Sandy!"

Belated Lake Pictures

Why I am not crazy about the tubes!!! Fuzzy as it may be....this is Scott, Terry and Taylor trying to kill me! And, of course, Shannon (being the best friend that she is) making sure she catches a picture of it, despite my screams!!Beautiful Peyton!
This is more my type of ride...me, Scott and JP!

Sorry for the delay! I am not going to write much, I am on my way to bed. Everything is going great around here. Work is AWESOME!! I love it! JP is doing great too. There is not too much to post about. Things have been pretty quiet around here. We had a really nice Labor Day. Most of the day was spent over at Scott's parent's house playing with Kenzie.
I will post more pics soon!
