Calling All Full-Time Working Moms!!

HELP ME!!!!! It's 3:00 in the morning. My baby is WIDE STINKIN' awake in the living room! No sign of sleep. What do I do???? I have to BE at work at 7:00!

I just thought I would ask for any advice you may have. I figure, you're either going to have to give me ideas on how to MAKE him sleep, or tips on how to hide the dark circles that are bound to form under my eyes.
If no-one has any sound advice for me, would anyone be interested in starting a "Wide Awake Club?" We could have covered dish meals at my house at 2 or 3 am! I'll start a sign up sheet!

Funny, funny, funny!!! My advice is for how to get J.P. to sleep. Give him OTC medicine before bed. Benadryl always works!! Just kidding!! You always say it makes you sleep, I thought it'd work for him.

I know just the right person for you....Nancy Oates...she is always available for perky conversation around 3a.m. I know she would be happy to join your club!..As for me, on some nights you can find me at least half awake around that time seeing as i have the WORST sleeping patterns. Haha Ang

Drugs! When we lived in GA I found that one small dose of Benadryl would get Jessie & Jonah both to nap the whole way to Greenville and through that insane Atlanta traffic. If I hadn't had it for that, I KNOW we would have wrecked from the tension & stress of crazy drivers and crying children. Praying for you!

This is just my 2 cents. But try getting the book by Ferber. I don't remember the name of it but my pediatrician recommended it to me. It basically says to let them cry it out. I am sure him getting up at 3 is just a habit and you'll need to break him of it. It will be very hard but Momma has got to get some sleep. Good luck! Roseann

Oh you poor thing! Both my girls are good sleeper, I'll just pretend its because of my mothering, but since I can't tell you what I'm doing, I guess that's not it. :) Isabella did go through a spell where it would take her forever to go to sleep and she finally just grew out of it. Couldn't really find anything to change it and since she had already climbed out of her crib, we didn't have the option of letting her cry it out, she'd just walk into our room. I'm not big on giving drugs for no reason, but even if I did Benadryl has the reverse effect on my oldest, when the dr told me to give it to her for sinuses I thought "Oh and it will make her tired too" Wrong! Where it says may cause excessive drowsiness, it also mentions hyperactivity -- yep that's what happened to mine. :) I'd say try a bath with that sleepytime stuff in it, or maybe one of the snacks that is supposed to make you tired: milk, turkey & crackers.... Hope he starts sleeping for you soon!!!!
