We just got home from the Relay 4 Life. It's always amazing to see the people there. I looked around and saw LOTS of survivors. There were also lots of people who were remembering their loved ones. My mother in law was in charge of the
Greenville chapter and did a wonderful job putting it all together! Terry, Scott and I were given the opportunity to sing for the luminary service. Everyone lights a candle in "honor" or in "memory" of someone. The lights go out and you walk around quietly and look at the names of everyone. While this is a very emotional time for most people, I was reminded of how important it is to know that there is HOPE! We sang a song called, "Homesick" I just wanted to share the words w/ you:
"I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now!"
This is one of my favorite songs and it fit so well with the theme. This is not our "home". We are only visitors here. I know what it's like to lose someone you love and to have to watch someone suffer with Cancer. However, I've learned that if I try to focus on the Place that I was really made for, it makes it alot more bearable to get through hardships here on earth. Including this adoption!
